I am Amit Kalssi, Private Travel Designer and Founder and CEO of Experiential Travel Journeys Pvt. Ltd., a boutique luxury travel design company based in New Delhi, India.

With over 32 years of experience in the travel and tourism industry, my professional journey has covered airlines, hotels, cruises, destination promotions, sales, marketing, operations, product development, contracting and luxury travel design.

Since 2010, my focus has been on experiential luxury travel — private, tailor-made journeys created for discerning travellers who want to move beyond standard packages and conventional holidays.

Through this blog, Private Travel Designer, I share my personal travel experiences, hotel and resort observations, destination insights, luxury travel recommendations and views on journeys that are inspiring, meaningful, rare and often life-changing.

My Travel Philosophy

For me, luxury travel is not only about the most expensive hotel or the most dramatic itinerary.

True luxury lies in choosing the right destination, the right season, the right hotel or villa, the right guide, the right pace and the right experiences for the traveller.

A good journey should feel personal. It should reflect why you are travelling, who you are travelling with, what inspires you, and what you want to feel when you return home.

That is the purpose of this blog to share insight, not generic travel information. I write about places, hotels, lodges, resorts and experiences from the point of view of a private luxury travel designer, with the intention of helping travellers make more thoughtful choices.

Experiential Travel Journeys

I founded Experiential Travel Journeys Pvt. Ltd. in 2014 to serve discerning travellers looking for a more personal and meaningful way to travel.

The idea was simple: to offer an alternative to standard tourist itineraries and ready-made packages by designing private, tailor-made journeys that are immersive, comfortable, thoughtful and true to the spirit of the destination.

Experiential Travel Journeys designs private luxury journeys across the world through a combination of destination knowledge, trusted global partners, luxury hotel relationships, specialist travel networks and carefully selected local experts.

Professional Experience

Before founding Experiential Travel Journeys, my professional journey included roles across the travel industry, including international travel operations, sales, marketing, business development, destination planning and luxury travel.

I worked with Abercrombie & Kent India as Vice President – Private Travel, where I headed A&K Private Travel India and was responsible for sales, marketing and operations of bespoke outbound luxury travel experiences for discerning Indian travellers.

Earlier in my career, I worked with Swagatam Travels Pvt. Ltd. and Ambe World Travels, gaining hands-on experience across travel operations, product development, supplier relationships and international travel services.

These years helped shape my understanding of both the practical and emotional sides of travel — from logistics and execution to personalisation, service and experience design.

Why This Blog Exists

Private Travel Designer was created as a space for me to share deeper travel insights outside the format of a company website.

Here, I write about luxury hotels, resorts, private islands, safari lodges, wellness retreats, experiential journeys, destination recommendations and first-hand travel experiences.
